Competitions and Awards
Cecchetti Classical ballet offers a range of Competitions and Awards to encourage, support and promote participation in Cecchetti Classical ballet for both children and for vocational students. The annual Cecchetti Children’s Award & Mabel Ryan Awards in London, the Southern Area Awards and the Wales & West Area Awards are all designed to give children and young dancers who are not in vocational training, the experience of participating in a competition on stage in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The annual choreographicompetition celebrates creativity and imagination in aspiring young dance makers.
Vocational students studying the Cecchetti method at Intermediate level and above can participate in the Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship or the Barbara Geoghegan Award – these awards support talented students in their training as they prepare for a professional dance career.
The 2011 Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards took place on 19th & 20th November 2011 at the Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells, London - bringing together for the first time, in one high profile event, the Cecchetti Children’s Awards (formerly Lower Junior), the Mabel Ryan Awards, the Barbara Geoghegan Award and the Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship. The Awards attracted a record level of entries this year with 244 talented young dancers competing during the two days.
