The Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards
Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells Theatre
24th & 25th November 2012

In November 2011 the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards, for the first time, brought together in one high profile event, the Cecchetti Children’s Awards (formerly Lower Junior), the Mabel Ryan Awards, the Barbara Geoghegan Award and the Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship.  Following the success of the CICB Competition, the Geoghegan Award and Fewster Scholarship attracted a record level of entries from Cecchetti students training in Europe as well as in the UK.  The Awards took place at the Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells and were adjudicated by a prestigious panel of adjudicators including Tracy Brown and Jonathan Cope.  Photos of this event and further information about each of these awards can be found in Competitions & Awards.

Following this success, the 2012 Awards will take place again at the Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler's Wells on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November 2012.

CICB International Ballet Competition 2011

A World Class Competition for Young Dancers

As a founder member of Cecchetti International Classical Ballet (CICB), the UK was proud to host the Cecchetti International Classical Ballet Competition in July 2011 at The Lowry, Manchester.

This high profile event attracted a truly international entry of 46 talented young dancers selected from across the UK, Malta, Italy, Spain, USA, Canada, Australia and Japan. A prestigious panel of adjudicators included Brenda Last, Mark Baldwin, Francesca Filpi, Richard Glasstone, Matthew Hawkins, David Lloyd, Errol Pickford, Tracy Tinker and Anita Young.  The programme of events open to the public took place in the Quays Theatre from 28th – 30th July.  All competitors participated in the adjudicated contemporary and classical ballet classes led by Sharon Watson and Anita Young respectively and then performed solos.  18 competitors were selected for the Gala Final when the following Awards were made: -

Musicality Award   £1,000  Hailee Karam - USA (CCA)
Contemporary Award  £1,000 Chelsea Cambron - USA (CUSA)
Audience Choice  £1,500 Sara Mambelli  - Italy
Most Promising Dancer  £2,500 Jesse Milligan - UK
Maestro Cecchetti Award   £4,000  Ashleigh McKimmie – Australia

Scholarships for one week’s tuition were also awarded by the Australian Ballet School  (Lloyd Petchey, UK), The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Nathan Hunt, UK) and the Italian Summer Schools 2012( Alessandro Caggegi, UK and Rerika Kono, Japan).  One year tuition Scholarships were given by KS Dance Ltd to Tessa Peterson - USA (CCA) and by The School of Alberta Ballet to Melissa Eguchi - USA (CUSA).
The Gala Evening attracted a capacity audience and the performance also showcased guest artists from The Royal Ballet Company, English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre and was followed by a celebratory reception in the Quays Theatre Bar.
